Stunned Sea Turtles!

This winter has been particularly cold, especially in our warmer southern coastal states.  Unfortunately, it can be quite devastating for our fun loving sea creatures! In particular the Sea Turtle. Hundreds of them get paralyzed, essentially, stunned by the cold. At that point they become casualties of boats and or develop pneumonia. Learn about the sea turtle HERE!  And let's celebrate those that rescue them and help keep our sea turtles safe!

Illegal Fishing in The Galapagos

The Galapagos Islands are a UNESCO world Heritage site. Two bodies of ocean converge in this area, creating an abundance of nutritious food. The sea life Loves it! And they are happily living there. The good news is this area is protected. The bad news is that fishermen are waiting just beyond the protected line to catch them. 
Learn what happens when Chinese fisherman got caught fishing in the sancutary with 300 tonnes of fish, including the protected hammerhead shark as well as Big Eyed Thresher. Learn about this tragedy HERE.

Read about how untreated agricultural runoff can destroy the environemnt. It has also become a very political issue. Check it out HERE! 
This is also a very good reminder to take note on what you put on your own garden. Nitrates which come from fertilizers, wash into our water ways creating the perfect enviroment for algae blooms. This is toxic for those living in and around the affected area.

This is no magic act, it's called Global warming! The sea level rising has forced communities to relocate to higher ground. But don't tell Florida State Governor Rick Scott, who calls it "nuisance flooding." Sea levels are rising and it has overtaken five Solomon Islands. Perhaps the governor should visit this Island nation and get their opinion on the matter.
